“…during the Last Days, scoffers will come, following their own desires and asking, ‘Where is this promised [coming] of His? For our fathers have died, and everything goes on just as it has since the beginning of creation.’” 2 Peter 3:3-4 CJB
It’s significant Father, that You established a calendar and in the very first month was a new beginning marked by You redeeming Your chosen people from bondage… to bring them to Yourself and establish them as a nation… holy, set apart… through whom You would reconcile and bring all the world to You.
This first act pointed ahead to a second act in Your redemptive plan that would, that does, free, not just Israel but all people, whosoever will, from the bondage of sin, bring them to You out of darkness, into Your marvelous light. But not without darkness and shed blood.
Here we are now Father, in the commemorative and prophetic season, faithfully observing this set apart time as You have commanded, looking forward to the coming Day and the return of the One whose blood serves as a covering… that the second death may pass over all who are under it.
It is as fearful and serious a time as it is joyful. The spirit of it weighs on us in a way that the focus of our minds and hearts are not tuned in to the everyday world around us.
It seems strange Father. How is it, that the world is about its business, actively and energetically, noisily, as if nothing special is afoot? We have a sense that we are separated from… apart from… in a motionless and quiet place… as the world goes about and everything goes on around us… just as it has since the beginning of creation.
What dangerous ignorance, what dangerous purposeful disregard.
Is it, in part, our fault Father? Is it because we have not only come out of “the ways of the world” but also come out of the world altogether? How can the world come to know You if we who do… are not In It?
Father, may we be like Yeshua who did not stay withdrawn from the world in heavenly places but came into the world, to walk and talk and make You known to a world self absorbed and frantically, dangerously distracted.
May we be visible and audible… your image and likeness that will capture the attention of men, slow them down, redirect their gaze from all that seemingly goes on just the same… to the glad certainty of what… of who… is coming.
To You be the glory!
In Yeshua’s name we pray…
Amen.
