We are called upon to be people who give thanks and though we do so throughout the year, day to day, in a sense one bit at a time Father, we are in a season set aside to give a special offering of thanks to You for the ways in which we have been blessed and experienced good, a time to realize that sometimes what we didn’t see as blessing actually turned out to be so, to experience and express, a heightened sense of gratitude. In so reflecting we realize that You never abandon or forsake…
and we offer a prayer of heightened thanks giving.
May our prayers of thanks giving find their completion in what they reveal that we can do as a natural outcome of our thanks.
When we give thanks Father, for our parents and siblings, for our good friends, for our spouses, and children, for the job and home, the food on our tables and clothes on our backs, for the country and our way of life Father…
May we in turn be…
the parents to our children, the brother or sister to our siblings, the friend that is faithful, the spouse that loves, the child that honors, the good employee, the good steward of what You have given, and the source of help to those in need, the honorable citizen, the protector and preserver of our way of life…
…May we in turn be that people Father… You… would have us be…
that we might not be just receivers, giving thanks only...
but we might be givers of Your blessing.
“Every blessing You pour out we’ll turn back with praise…” to You Father…
and with blessings as well to the others we are among.
In Yeshua’s name we pray…
Amen.
