“A soft response deflects fury,
but a harsh word makes tempers rise.” Proverbs 15:1 CJB
Good morning Father.
How blessed we are to wake to a new day and You are there watching over us.
Your watch and keep over us is ongoing whether we sleep or are awake, as faithful as the sun coming up every morning, the moon and stars appearing at night.
You are our Father in heaven, the Spirit within us, ever-present.
In the day ahead You are our strength and direction, our help… in times of trouble and… when things are good. In our heart of hearts, we have peace and joy.
As we are going about the activities of our day Father, and engaging with one another when those circumstances come up in which we inspire impatience in others or for some reason we cause anger that is directed at us or even if we have not caused these but are merely the easy target for someone else to vent on… may we have and exercise that character of Yours that doesn’t respond vengefully.
Make strong in us the soft, the calm, the gentle response, as opposed to one that is harsh, a soft response that serves to put the fire out rather than feed it.
May we have that character of Yours that demonstrates love even in the face of attack, through a willingness to take a hit… to give “making friends”… at the very least making peacefulness… a chance…
and if our actions are to no avail Father… Praise to You anyhow!
Mold us, Father, to be like You, to be able to follow Your ways… ways that are not natural to us or we are able to do on our own.
Thank You for the willingness of Yeshua to take the hit… Your willingness to let Him.
In Yeshua’s name, we pray,
Amen.
